If we look to find value outside of Jesus, we will be faced with the reality that our inherent value comes only from our creator. If we look to find meaning outside of God, we will be faced with the truth that meaning outside of God is relative and thus meaningless. If we act as if happiness is ultimately more important than truth, we debase Truth and thus cast aside the importance or relevance of God's truth, and ultimately God in life.
